My condolences to Queen Elizabeth and all her family on the death of their beloved Queen Elizabeth, the Queen Mother. What a strong, delightful lady she must have been. I was never privileged to meet or even see her in person, but she was an important presence in the world, an example of the best that a wife, mother and queen a woman could be.

I am a born and raised Canadian citizen now living in the United States, but have always remained loyla to the Crown. The great Queen Elizabeth has been a part of my life always and I have admired her for so many years for everything she has done. I have always called her the "Queen with the Heart" because of her ability to accept people for who and what they are and to give the people the true ability to create peace among the world. When so many people were unable to face the difficulties of war, the Queen Mum was able to show faith in God and People and be there for not only moral support, but for personal support as well. There will never be another like the Queen Mum, and I for one, will miss her. She has been a blessing to people all over the world. Even though I have never had the opportunity to meet her, or see her, I have seen her daughter, son-in-law and children many times while growing up in Canada. To them I offer my love, prayers and thoughts at this, your moment of sadness.

My sincere condolences to HRH Queen Elizabeth II and all of the Royal Family. Being born in Australia of a mother born in Cambridge, England and a father born in Edinburgh, Scotland I have always been fascinated by the Royal Family and their lives. When I was born (1951) HRH the Queen Mother was my Queen and has been around all my life. My Aunt born July 2nd 1900 in Lyndhurst, Cambridgeshire, England but passed away in 1982 would recall fond memories of the times of this beloved lady when she once cook for her Majesty the Queen Mother as well as her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. Our family has always had the highest esteem for the Royal Family, HRH the Queen Mother was the backbone and the pillar of strength that kept the Royal Family together. One that could be regal as well as being real at the same time. It is unfortunate that there is no one to replace her, that anyone ever could. I have grown up with great admiration for this grand beloved lady, who has helped to solidify my pride in my British Heritage which I have been able to visit both England and Scotland twice in my lifetime with the most recent visit to Scotland last May, 2001. May HRH the Queen Mother rest in peace with her beloved "Bertie" and daughter HRH Princess Margaret. "God Save the Queen". I wish to thank the Sherlock Holmes Museum for providing this special website that one can express tribute to this special lady, HRH the Queen Mother.

She carried out her duties without complaint. She had a wonderfully long life, but she will be missed as an icon of the bygone age of the monarchy. Hopefully her influence will stregthen those of her family who are left to carry on with the same grace, dignity & humour. My sincere condolences to all the Royal Family on the death of the Queen Mother. I know from the death of my much loved great grandmother that, although the deceased may have been old & lived a long & fulfilled life, it does not make coping with the death any easier.
The Queen Mother was an exact contemporary of one of my grandmothers.

I myself have lost my grandmother over a year ago. Although I did not know her as much I would have liked to, she was still very dear to me. I can only imagine what HRH Prince Charles must be feeling. All we can do now is pray. My deepest and heartfelt condolences to the royal family and of their loved ones.

I was very sad to hear of the death of Queen Elizabeth, the Queen Mother. I extend my sympathies to her daughter, Queen Elizabeth, especially in this year of the 50th anniversay of her accession to the throne. I include my sympathies to her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and othe members of her family. Just two days before her death was announced, I was reading an article which talked about correspondence between Lord Tweedsmuir and Lord Lothian about the planned royal visit to Canada and the United States in 1939, with Lord Lothian writing that he was looking forward to the meeting between "the two great fascinators of history, Queen Elizabeth and Franklin Roosevelt".

The world has lost a great lady, a great queen, and a marvellous example of someone who stood for duty, love of country and steadfastness. God Save the Queen. Pat Gibson Ottawa, Ontario Canada

The Queen Mother has always held a special place in our hearts, we are saddened by her death but thankful she was with us for so long. After reading this memorial we realize that she sacrificed many personal preferences to do what she knew to be best for others. My heart and deepest sympathy to the Queen and other members of the Royal Family for having recently lost such a wonderful lady out of their midst. Being a Yorkshireman by birth, I feel very proud that we had such a wonderful couple to represent the name of our principal city and county.

Further, to relate to this sad happening, I being of seafaring origin found it disappointing that the Royal Navy did not hand over that proud warship H.M.S. Vanguard at the end of her commission to the London Authority at the time to be permanently moored in the River Thames as a tribute to the Royal navy's battleship era, and would have been a lasting memory of the visit to South Africa of King George V1 and Queen Elizabeth as she was then, on that proud vessel. God bless her at her passing and no doubt she will be reunited with her beloved ' Bertie ' and last but not least her daughter Princess Margaret.

Great Grandmother is always a special person. I lost mine at the age of 16. She was 100. The wisdom and knowlege will never replace a text book on how to handle life. Grandmothers around the world will forever live on in your heart and hopefully inspire the offspring to become better people. Although I never met her, she was, as I considered her yet another great grandmother who I would be proud to have in my family. Accomplishments ,wise and caring. and loved by all. May she rest in peace.

During a brief career as a reporter in the 1980s I was privileged to cover a visit to Niagara-on-the-lake by Elizabeth, the Queen Mother. I will always cherish memories of that day and I celebrate her wonderful life at this time of her passing.
